Hi all!

Is it possible to include the latest release of FOP in eDE? Due to some bug-fixes and new features i would need the latest release but i haven't found a way to include it myself.

These fixes/features are:
- The entries of the automatic generated TOC have nearly no space between the words. So "Chapter 1 of the book" looks like Chapter1ofthebook" in the PDF-output (In fact there is a space but a real narrow one - the new release fixed this problem). (I mentioned this in the old forum, too.)
- I would need to add password-protection to the PDF. This seems to be possible with the latest FOP, but not with the included one. Or is there an other way to do this?

kind regards

tristran

The latest release of FOP is 0.20.5 which is included with eDE. Suppose you want to include the current build, this should be easy by just downloading the package and unpacking it to c:\docbook\fop. It is probably a good idea to rename the old fop directory to avoid mixups of old and new libraries. You might have to make adjustments to c:\docbook\bat\docbook_pdf.bat - FOP is called in line 87 of this file - and/or c:\docbook\bat\docbook_configuration.bat.

You can create a custom_configuration.bat file to override configuration settings without changing the original file. See bottom of c:\docbook\bat\docbook_configuration.bat.

Aren't the Dictionary-Files included in the FOP-build of eDE?!
As far as i know these files aren't included in the downloadable build of FOP. This means i would need to compile it myself. And this means i would need the sources of the dictionary-files (i need DE, EN and FR), which i don't have.

Is this right or did i misunderstand something?

Anyway, i try the way you mentioned! Thanx so far

Back again..

O.K. i tried it:
- The narrow spaces in the TOC are 'normal' again. Good so far
- The password-stuff i didn't test..
- but unfortunately the hyphenation doesn't work anymore - i guess that's what i need the dictionary-files for..

Where do i get the source-files for hyphenation from? Do you have a FOP-binary (latest build) including these?

*a little support*

thanx in advance

BTW:
in my installation of eDE 1.3.0 the Release Candidate of FOP 0.20.5 (socalled 0.20.5rc) is included!
Which is NOT the same than the final release!

Thanks for the hint. This must have escaped us. We'll include the 0.20.5 release version in the next eDE version.

Regarding the 'password'-problem:
Meanwhile i tested the encryption of a pdf-output using FOP 0.20.5 (final ).
It works fine except for one thing:
the automatic generated bookmarks of the pdf aren't readable anymore! It looks like they are encrypted but cannot be decrypted!

When you include the latest FOP-release, could you please check this matter, too??

We'll have a look at this. Should you discover anything helpful, it would be great if you shared information with this forum. Thanks!
